Perry Alleges Portable Hindering New Artists as Feud With Olamide Resurfaces
Fresh controversy has erupted in the Nigerian music scene after promoter, Tunde Perry accused singer, Portable of indirectly preventing upcoming artists from advancing in the industry.
In a recently circulated video, Perry alleged that Portable’s public behavior and frequent online outbursts have made influential figures reluctant to support or associate with emerging talents. He specifically mentioned Olamide, the YBNL boss widely credited for launching the careers of artists like Fireboy DML and Asake, suggesting that certain actions by Portable have complicated access to him for new acts.
Portable did not stay silent. The singer responded with a series of shirtless videos, defending his independence and dismissing the claims. In one clip, he addressed Olamide directly, saying in Yoruba, “Olamide, dey your dey make I dey my dey,” implying that both of them should mind their individual paths.
He also suggested that he is too established to be intimidated, boasting that he is “bigger than anybody.”
The exchange also brought up unresolved tensions from the past. Portable appeared to reference issues surrounding his 2022 collaboration “Zazoo” with Olamide, as well as the struggles of former YBNL artist Lyta after leaving the label. Observers note that the friction between Portable and Olamide is not new. Last November, Portable publicly criticized Olamide before later offering an apology.
Since then, Olamide has largely remained silent despite divided reactions from fans.
The ongoing situation, fueled by reactions on social media platform X, continues to generate debate within the entertainment community, with many watching closely to see whether the matter will escalate or eventually settle.
