Abia APC Adopts Tinubu as Sole Candidate for 2027 Presidential Election

The All Progressives Congress in Abia State has adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election, declaring its readiness to deliver victory for him in the state.

The resolution was announced on Sunday at a stakeholders pre congress meeting convened by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, at his country home in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

Addressing party leaders and members, Kalu urged stakeholders to remain resolute and united ahead of the polls.

“Be strong, be courageous. We have all it takes to deliver to Mr. President more than the 25% that they are dangling in front of him,” he said.

Kalu disclosed that the party had registered more than 160,000 members through its ongoing electronic registration exercise. He attributed the inability to record higher figures to technical challenges, including limited access to National Identification Number registration machines.

“If we had more NIN machines, our party would be more than 1 million people in this state,” he stated.

He expressed optimism that the party’s membership base would expand significantly before the next general election, promising to surprise the President with higher figures within the next year.

“Between now and one year when the election comes, we will shock Mr. President with the number of members of this great party of ours. It is a promise. We are not relenting. We are marching forward. We are not looking back. The train has taken off,” Kalu said.

The Deputy Speaker also revealed that his office had provided more than 400 tablets and other logistics to support the e-registration process across the state. He emphasised collective ownership of the party and called for stronger grassroots structures to ensure electoral success.

“No one man owns the party. The party belongs to you. My kind of leadership places leadership in your hands, and we will come together to promote the party. All we aim to do is ensure that the structures at all levels are strong so that we deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

Kalu warned against factional activities within the party, insisting on unity among members.

“Anybody maintaining a faction is not a member of our party. We must work together if we are going to win massively in this state. The leadership says zero faction for APC,” he added.

Also speaking at the meeting, the National Welfare Secretary of the party, Donatus Nwankpa, called for peace and unity among members as part of efforts to reposition the party in Abia State.

“We have the responsibility of taking over the Government House. Tinubu is going to win,” Nwankpa said.

The meeting was attended by party stakeholders from across Abia State as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
