DPO Muhammad Kabir Killed by Cattle Rustlers

The Divisional Police Officer of Rimi Local Government Area in Katsina State, CSP Muhammad Kabir, has been was killed.

 

He lost his life while leading a joint security operation against suspected cattle rustlers in the Magajen Gobir area.

 

The encounter occurred after community leaders alerted the police to the presence of rustlers late at night. The DPO immediately mobilized security operatives and local vigilantes to the scene to confront the criminals.

 

During the intense gun battle, three of the attackers were neutralized by the security forces. Most of the stolen cattle were successfully recovered as residents joined forces with the police to protect their community.

 

Tragically, the DPO was fatally shot by the leader of the rustlers, a notorious figure identified as Maigemu.

 

Reports indicate the officer’s rifle malfunctioned during the exchange, leaving him vulnerable to the fatal shot.

 

The gang leader, Maigemu, was reportedly among those neutralised during the operation. He was known for having rejected previous peace accords offered by the state government.

 

Three other security personnel sustained injuries during the operation and are currently receiving medical attention.

 

The fallen officer’s remains have been transported to his family in Zaria, Kaduna State, for burial.

 

Honoring the officer’s ultimate sacrifice, the Ministry of Internal Security stated, “The Ministry mourns the loss of CSP Muhammad Sani Kabir and prays for Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdausi, noting that his sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten.”
