Agege Local Government Chairman, Mr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, has launched a ₦100 million grant for micro and small enterprises.
The fund is specifically designed to empower youths and women within the local community.
The announcement coincided with a graduation ceremony where 1,000 residents completed the Skills Elevation Programme.
These graduates were equipped with vocational and digital skills to foster self-reliance.
Partnering with “Speed Up Lagos,” the council will inject the ₦100 million directly into the local economy. This financial support aims to help trained entrepreneurs scale their small businesses effectively.
Training covered diverse areas like catering, fashion design, and sandal making. The curriculum also included digital technology and hairstyling to prepare participants for modern market demands.
Community leaders praised the initiative as a vital step in reducing local poverty. They noted that merging professional training with financial backing ensures long-term business sustainability for the beneficiaries.
Highlighting the council’s vision, Chairman Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa stated, “This programme underscores our commitment to sustainable empowerment to build a more prosperous Agege.”
