Joint Operation Rescues 8 Kidnapped Wedding Guests

Joint security forces have rescued eight wedding guests abducted by bandits along the Kano-Katsina border.

Acting on a distress call, troops engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gunbattle, forcing them to retreat and abandon their captives.

The military confirmed the success, stating, “The troops, acting on credible intelligence, executed a swift operation that led to the rescue of eight victims. We remain committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens and will continue to hunt down these criminal elements.”

The victims were intercepted while returning from a wedding, a common target for regional bandits.

After the rescue, the survivors received medical evaluations and debriefings before being reunited with their families.

This success is attributed to enhanced intelligence sharing between the Kano and Katsina military commands. Such coordination prevents bandits from using state boundaries to escape security sweeps.

The mission belongs to a wider offensive aimed at clearing armed gangs from the Northwest region. Officials emphasized that these operations will continue until all major hideouts are neutralized.
