Kwara State Police have successfully rescued four individuals who were abducted by gunmen along the Eiyenkorin-Afon road.Â
The operation was carried out by a tactical team supported by local hunters in the early hours of Thursday.
The victims were snatched while traveling in a commercial vehicle, prompting an immediate search and rescue mission. Security forces combed the thick forest areas surrounding the Asa Local Government Area to track down the criminals.
“The rescue was made possible through the combined efforts of our tactical teams and local hunters. We remain committed to ensuring that Kwara State is safe for all residents and travelers,” the Police Command stated.
During the heavy gun duel that ensued, the kidnappers were forced to abandon their captives and flee deeper into the woods with gunshot injuries.
The rescued victims were found unharmed but visibly shaken by the ordeal.
Following their rescue, the four individuals were taken to a medical facility for examination and profiling. They have since been reunited with their families after being cleared by security officials.
The Commissioner of Police praised the bravery of the officers and the cooperation of the local community.
He urged residents to stay vigilant and provide timely information to help eradicate kidnapping in the state.
