El-Rufai Anticipates Possible Arrest Amid Rising Tensions

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai believes his arrest by security agencies is imminent.
Speaking with BBC Hausa, he noted that current political actions suggest he is a primary target.
El-Rufai revealed that the apprehension stems from several of his former Kaduna associates already being taken into custody. He views these detentions as a coordinated lead-up to his own eventual arrest.
Regarding his colleagues’ situation, El-Rufai stated, “About four people we worked with in Kaduna have been arrested. So, it may only be a matter of time before they come for me as well”
Now a leader in the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), El-Rufai is closely monitoring the situation with his legal team.
He remains free for now but characterizes the development as a closely watched threat.
His comments follow his increased criticism of the current administration and a shift to the ADC. This move has placed him at the center of new alliances formed for the 2027 elections.
Despite the looming threat, El-Rufai continues his active political engagements. He remains wary, concluding that it is only a “matter of time” before security agencies take action against him.
