Cubana Chief Priest Vows to Oppose Peter Obi in 2027

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Celebrity socialite Pascal Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chief Priest, has declared he will not support Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential bid.

This marks a major shift for the “celebrity barman,” who was a visible supporter of the Labour Party candidate during the 2023 election cycle.

The announcement came during a heated Instagram exchange where a follower asked if he was actively working against Obi. Confirming his new stance, he wrote, “yes oh hope say no be crime cuz I worked for Obi last election even as special adviser to an APC governor.”

When critics referenced his previous legal troubles to discredit his political opinion, the socialite remained defiant about his status. He dismissed the mockery regarding his history with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, stating, “If you never go to the EFCC for Naija, you never make it.”

The debate shifted toward regional loyalty and the Biafra movement, where Chief Priest challenged the impact of his detractors. He questioned the tangible contributions of those who criticize him from afar, writing, “Go and support who you want to support. As you like Biafra, how many developments have you done for the South East?”

Chief Priest’s comments highlight a significant break from the “Obidient” movement that he once championed.

His admission that he supported Obi while serving under an APC governor adds a layer of complexity to his past and future political affiliations.

The social media outburst has sparked intense debate over celebrity influence in Nigerian politics. By publicly declaring his opposition to Obi, Chief Priest has signaled his intention to play a different, potentially antagonistic role in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
