2027: ADC Targets 14 Million Registered Members, Says Aregbesola
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled an ambitious plan to register 14 million members nationwide as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The party’s National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting, stating that the membership drive forms a central pillar of the ADC’s strategy to reposition itself as a formidable political force ahead of the next electoral cycle. Aregbesola said the target reflects the party’s determination to deepen its grassroots presence across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. According to him, a nationwide registration exercise will soon be intensified to attract Nigerians who are dissatisfied with the current political landscape and are seeking an alternative platform. He noted that building a strong membership base is critical to strengthening internal party structures, mobilising voters effectively, and presenting credible candidates for elective offices in 2027. The ADC has recently gained increased political attention following moves by opposition figures to adopt the party as a coalition platform ahead of the next general elections. Political analysts say the 14 million membership target, if achieved, would significantly boost the party’s visibility and organisational capacity nationwide. However, the party has also cautioned Nigerians against fraudulent membership registration links circulating online, clarifying that only authorised channels will be used for official registration.
