President Tinubu Congratulates Agriculture Minister Kyari on IFAD Chair Appointment
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, on his election as Chairperson of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Senator Kyari was unanimously elected on Tuesday to lead the 49th Governing Council of IFAD, the international organization’s highest decision-making body.
In a statement, President Tinubu described Kyari’s election as a “vote of confidence” in his leadership and the agricultural reforms he has championed in Nigeria.
“The election of the Agriculture and Food Security minister is a confidence vote in his capacity and the reforms he spearheads in Nigeria’s agriculture and food security value chain,” the President said.
He added that he is confident Kyari will provide IFAD with effective leadership and enhance its relevance, particularly amid global food security challenges.
President Tinubu also wished the minister a successful and impactful tenure as he assumes his new role at the international organization.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, issued the statement on his behalf.
