Atiku, Makinde in Closed-Door Session with Babangida

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde met privately with former military President, Ibrahim Babangida in Minna on Tuesday.
The high-profile visit to the “hilltop” residence has triggered intense political interest nationwide. Both leaders arrived in the afternoon for the session, which lasted over an hour.
The meeting held amidst significant internal restructuring and strategic consultations within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Sources indicate the discussions focused on party unity and addressing the current state of the nation.
Governor Makinde’s participation is viewed as a key indicator of shifting dynamics within the opposition’s leadership.
This visit is widely interpreted as an effort to bridge internal rifts and secure the counsel of elder statesmen on national stability.

Regarding the objective of the meeting, Atiku stated, “It is a routine visit to our leader and elder statesman, General Ibrahim Babangida, to pay our respects and also discuss issues of national interest as we continue to work towards a better Nigeria.”
The delegation departed for the Minna airport shortly after the briefing to return to their respective bases. This visit follows a string of similar high-level engagements by various political actors across the country.
