Ogun Govt Plans ₦1bn Digital Classroom for Public School
The Ogun State Government has announced plans to construct a ₦1 billion ultra-modern digital classroom complex at Remo Secondary School (RSS), Sagamu, as part of efforts to strengthen technology-driven education and prepare students for the digital economy.
Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed this during the school’s 80th anniversary celebration, describing the project as a strategic investment aimed at equipping students with 21st-century skills and improving learning outcomes across public schools in the state. According to the governor, the proposed facility will be a 900-seater smart classroom complex, fitted with digital and AI-enabled learning tools. The project will complement existing infrastructure in the school, including a resource centre and a fully equipped robotics laboratory, designed to promote innovation, creativity and hands-on learning. Abiodun said the initiative aligns with the state’s broader education reform agenda, which focuses on integrating technology into teaching and learning, upgrading science laboratories, and creating safe, modern learning environments for students. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the project by announcing a ₦100 million intervention fund, with ₦50 million to be released immediately, while urging old students, private sector partners and other stakeholders to support the completion of the project. The digital classroom plan is part of Ogun State’s wider push for digital education, which includes the deployment of AI-powered learning platforms and the Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DiPER) to improve school management, data-driven decision-making, and digital capacity building for teachers and students.
