‎Wike Inspects Satellite Town Roads, Pledges May Completion

‎FCT Minister Nyesom Wike recently inspected road projects in Abuja’s satellite towns, specifically the Kabusa-Ketti and Kabusa-Takushara axes.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to closing the infrastructure gap between the city center and rural areas.

Wike noted that these roads were vital for improving the daily lives of residents who have historically suffered from poor accessibility.

‎The inspection focused on two major routes totaling over 20 kilometers, which connect several districts like Pyakasa and Wasa.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the contractors’ progress, noting that these roads were strategic for boosting the local economy. He emphasized that rural infrastructure remains a key pillar of the government’s inclusive development agenda.

‎Wike explained that prioritizing satellite towns aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to extend development beyond the urban core. By opening up these outskirts, the government aims to encourage more people to live outside the city center.

This shift is expected to significantly reduce the population density and traffic congestion currently plaguing Abuja’s main districts.

‎During the tour, Wike highlighted how a modern road network transforms rural living and attracts property developers. He pointed out that improved connectivity would change the lifestyle of inhabitants by providing faster access to economic opportunities.

The Minister believes that once finished, these projects will turn previously isolated areas into prime locations.

‎Emphasizing the impact of the new connectivity on travel time and accessibility, Wike stated, “From here to the city is just about 10 minutes. That’s what road networks bring. It will open up the entire place.” This quote reflects his vision for a more integrated and accessible Federal Capital Territory.

‎Beyond roads, the Minister announced plans to build new schools to support the growing population in the Ketti and Takushara areas. He assured residents that the projects are scheduled for completion by May to mark the second anniversary of the current administration. Wike concluded by pledging to stay focused on projects that offer the most direct benefits to the public.
