Troops Kill Top Bandit Kingpin in Niger State
Nigerian troops neutralized notorious bandit kingpin Kachalla Dan Gudale Shangel and another top commander during an operation in Niger State. The bandits were intercepted at Lioji and Mailaka (Kotonkoro) while attempting to move kidnapped hostages toward Zamfara.
This decisive strike successfully thwarted the abduction and decimated the gang’s leadership.
Dan Gudale was a primary architect of terror, responsible for mass killings, village burnings, and cattle rustling across Niger, Kaduna, and Kebbi states.
His elimination marks the end of a violent reign that has long destabilized the North-Central and North-Western regions, providing a significant reprieve for victimized communities.
The fierce firefight left several other commanders dead, forcing surviving bandits to flee toward the Sangeko–Kabaro axis.
Reports indicate the retreating remnants were seen burying their casualties in shallow graves as they fled in disarray. Military forces continue to comb the area to ensure the total clearance of the group’s remaining elements.
This victory underscores the effectiveness of sustained military pressure and intelligence-led operations under Operation Fansan Yamma.
By removing high-value targets, security forces are systematically dismantling the command structures of these criminal networks. The operation has boosted public morale and signals an intensified crackdown on regional banditry.
