Adamawa APC Chair Says Governor Fintiri Has Joined Party, Awaits Formal Declaration

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Barrister Idris Shuaibu, has disclosed that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has already aligned with the party and is only awaiting an official and ceremonial declaration.

Shuaibu made the disclosure on Monday at the APC secretariat in Yola during the reception of a governorship aspirant, Engineer Diaulhaq Abubakar, who formally announced his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election on the party’s platform.

“Governor Umaru Fintiri is already with us,” Shuaibu said. “What remains is his formal decamping from the PDP to the APC.”

He explained that the governor’s public declaration is expected soon, adding that preparations are underway to receive him and his supporters.

“Between now and the middle of this month, all things being equal, the governor will formally and ceremoniously declare for the APC,” the chairman stated.

Shuaibu further revealed that the party’s convention has been fixed for on or before the 20th of the month, noting that arrangements are being concluded to ensure Fintiri’s entry precedes the convention.

According to him, consultations at various levels have been completed to guarantee a smooth integration of the governor and his political associates into the party structure.

The APC chairman assured new members of equal treatment within the party, stressing that long-standing membership would not confer undue advantage.

“All members, whether old or new, have equal rights and opportunities in this party,” he said.

Shuaibu also expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects at the national level, praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated capacity and results. His record shows clearly that he remains the best choice for Nigeria,” he added.

While welcoming Engineer Diaulhaq Abubakar, Shuaibu commended his decision to contest on the APC platform, noting that he is one of several aspirants eyeing the Adamawa governorship seat.

“He is about the 15th aspirant to indicate interest in the Dougeri Government House ahead of 2027,” Shuaibu said.

Speaking to journalists, Abubakar said his ambition is driven by a desire to promote fairness and inclusive governance in the state.

“I am a young man with a strong vision for equitable and people-centred development,” he said. “My focus will be on improving internally generated revenue to support infrastructure, expanding skills acquisition for youths and women, and ensuring development reaches every part of the state.”
