Tinubu Pledges Stable Academic Calendar, Improved Power Supply
President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a stable academic calendar and reliable power for Nigerian universities.
Represented at Ahmadu Bello University’s convocation, he emphasized that education remains a primary pillar of his “Renewed Hope” agenda.
To support university employees, the President introduced a ₦40 billion Staff Loan Scheme. This program allows academic and non-academic staff to access loans from ₦1 million to ₦10 million, specifically aimed at improving welfare and boosting workplace productivity.
The President also championed the Federal Tertiary Institutions Governance and Transparency Programme.
He urged universities to embrace data-driven management and accountability to restore public trust and uphold high standards in Nigerian research and teaching.
Addressing infrastructure, the administration is prioritizing sustainable energy to end campus power outages. The goal is to create a conducive environment that eliminates the strikes and disruptions that have historically delayed students’ graduations.
Reiterating his pledge to the nation’s students and staff, the President stated, “I reaffirm this Administration’s commitment to keeping our educational institutions open in accordance with their approved academic calendars and to avoiding disruptions in the education sector”
