Two Arrested in Ogun Over Ritual Killing of Six-Year-Old

The Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects in connection with the gruesome ritual killing of a six-year-old boy, identified as Pemisere Bara.

The incident occurred in the Ebute Igboro community, located within the Yewa North Local Government Area of the state. This development has sparked outrage and concern among residents of the area.

The victim’s father, Bara Kehinde, initially reported the matter to the Ebute-Igbooro Police Station after his son went missing. According to the father, the young boy had failed to return home after being sent on an errand at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Fearing the worst, the father raised the alarm and sought the assistance of the authorities.

During the initial report, Mr. Kehinde pointed out a co-resident, Rebecca Sunday, as a person of interest. Following this lead, the police moved swiftly to take the woman into custody for questioning. Her apprehension proved to be a breakthrough in the case as she reportedly made a startling confession regarding the disappearance of the minor.

The suspect, Rebecca Sunday, allegedly confessed that she had entered into a sinister agreement with another individual. She claimed to have received a “diabolical ring” from one Oluibi Ajibola. According to her statement, Ajibola had promised to pay her the sum of ₦150,000 on the condition that she provided a child to be used for ritual purposes.

In response to this revelation, the police intensified their efforts to track down the second suspect. In a collaborative effort between the police and local youths in the Ebute Igboro community, Oluibi Ajibola was successfully apprehended. The cooperation of the local community was instrumental in ensuring the suspect did not evade justice.

Confirming the details of the incident on Friday, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, provided an update on the recovery of the victim. He disclosed that the lifeless body of the six-year-old was eventually found in the Yewa River at Ebute Igboro, situated along the Ilaro–Oja-Odan Road.

The police spokesperson further clarified that the case has now been officially moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). This transfer is intended to allow for a more thorough investigation into the motives and circumstances surrounding the murder, as well as to prepare for the eventual prosecution of those involved.

In an official statement regarding the arrests, Babaseyi said “Two suspects have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command over the murder of six-year-old Pemisere Bara in Ebute Igboro, Ilaro. The child’s body was recovered from the Yewa River, and the case has been transferred to the SCID for further investigation and prosecution.”
