Governor Okpebholo Gifts 3 Edo Workers SUVs for Excellence, Diligence

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has rewarded three staff members with brand-new SUVs. The gesture came after a surprise “integrity test” conducted at the Government House in Benin City to monitor the work ethics of the personnel.

Governor Okpebholo revealed that he had been quietly observing the staff’s arrival and departure times to see who remained committed to their duties even when they thought no one was watching.

The rewards were presented on Friday, January 30, 2026, to those who demonstrated consistent punctuality and a refusal to “cut corners” in their service to the state.

Detailing the surprise encounter, the Governor shared the following statement, “Today, I decided to surprise some of our hardworking Government House staff and trust me, luck met preparation.

“I noticed how they come early, close late and never cut corners, so I pretended to delay just to see who would run away early.

“Thankfully, nobody missed their blessing. I rewarded three outstanding staff with brand new SUVs because hard work must be seen and appreciated. When you serve Edo State with discipline, commitment and integrity, someone is watching.

“Yes, even the Governor. This is my little way of saying thank you and encouraging everyone to keep giving their best. We are here to serve Edo people and excellence will always be rewarded. A New Edo Has Risen.”

This act of generosity is part of a broader effort under the “SHINE” agenda to boost morale within the Edo State civil service.

By rewarding discipline and commitment, the Okpebholo administration aims to foster a culture of excellence and accountability across all government parastatals.

The beneficiaries, including Mary Salami of the Protocol Department and Mike Oshioshio from the ICT unit, were visibly moved by the gesture. Their recognition serves as a testament to the Governor’s message that “someone is watching” when workers serve with integrity. The administration concluded the event by reiterating that under the “New Edo,” hard work will no longer go unnoticed or unrewarded.
