APC Extends E-Registration Deadline as Membership Hits Seven Million

APC Extends E-Registration Deadline as Membership Hits Seven Million

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced an extension of its ongoing electronic membership registration deadline, shifting the closing date from January 31 to February 8.

This decision was reached during the party’s 183rd National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held in Abuja on Friday.

The extension comes as a response to the massive surge in interest from both prospective and existing members across Nigeria.

Party leadership noted that the enthusiasm surrounding the digital initiative has exceeded their initial expectations, prompting a review of the timeline to ensure no one is left out.

According to the party, the e-registration platform has already recorded a significant milestone, surpassing seven million registered members nationwide.

This digital drive is part of a broader effort to modernize the party’s database and align its operations with national regulatory frameworks.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, explained that the party is simply responding to the demands of its stakeholders who requested more time for their constituents to complete the process.

He emphasized that the goal is to maximize participation and reach a much higher target before the new closing date.

Highlighting the party’s projections, Felix Morka stated: “With respect to the e-registration, there’s no complicated explanation. We just want more members to register. We are responding to the clamour from enthusiastic members hoping to register to afford them more time.

As of now, we have crossed the mark of seven million. By the grace of God, by the time we are closing on the 8th of February, we should have crossed the mark of 12.5 million.”

To ensure the integrity of the database, the registration process requires members to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and Voter Identification Number (VIN). This system is designed to eliminate duplication, enhance transparency, and position the APC as the first major Nigerian political party to fully digitize its membership records.
