Bayern Munich Confirm Goretzka’s End of-Season-Exit
FC Bayern Munich have officially confirmed that midfielder Leon Goretzka will leave the club at the end of the current season when his contract expires.
The confirmation was made by Bayern’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, who stated that the 29-year-old will remain with the club until the conclusion of the campaign before departing as a free agent in the summer.
According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Freund said:
“Leon Goretzka will leave FC Bayern in the summer as a free agent, not now. Leon’s time at FC Bayern will be over in the summer. He will go another way after eight successful years. We’ll fight together in the coming months to achieve big things.”
The statement puts an end to speculation over a possible January exit, with Bayern making it clear that Goretzka remains part of their plans for the remainder of the season.
Goretzka joined Bayern Munich in 2018 from Schalke 04 and became a key figure during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. During his spell in Munich, he won multiple Bundesliga titles, DFB-Pokal trophies, and the UEFA Champions League, cementing his reputation as one of Germany’s top midfielders.
Despite facing increased competition for playing time in recent seasons, the Germany international has continued to contribute both on and off the pitch, offering experience and leadership within the squad.
Bayern Munich and Goretzka are now set to focus on their remaining objectives for the season, with both parties aiming to end their eight-year partnership on a high note before the midfielder embarks on a new chapter in his career this summer.
