FGN Power Company Partners With Kwara to Enhance Electricity Supply

The FGN Power Company, through the Presidential Power Initiative, is seeking a partnership with the Kwara State Government to upgrade the state’s electricity supply. This collaboration was discussed during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting involving energy officials and the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
The Kwara State Government welcomed the initiative, noting it aligns with their ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure. Permanent Secretary Mr. Olaitan Afolabi confirmed the state’s readiness to support the project to drive social and economic growth.
Highlighting the state’s current energy efforts, Afolabi stated “The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, through the Ministry of Energy, had commenced the installation of 34 transformers across the state, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the people.”
Technical Lead Oladunjoye Olubukola identified the Offa Sub-station as a priority site under the first phase of the federal project. This focus aims to modernize distribution lines and fix localized power bottlenecks.
The initiative seeks to bridge the national energy gap by providing more dependable electricity to consumers. Officials explained that the project is designed as a comprehensive solution to boost industrial and residential power access.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria noted that stable power would specifically empower small businesses and create jobs in Offa and surrounding areas. Reliable energy is seen as the primary tool for improving the daily lives of residents.
Ultimately, the partnership aims to make Kwara more attractive to investors by ensuring a steady power supply. Both parties believe the project will act as a major catalyst for the state’s long-term economic development.
