Wike Talks Tough, Warns Striking Workers to Resume Work or Face Punishment

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned workers to resume duties immediately following a court order directing the suspension of an ongoing strike, insisting that anyone who refuses to comply will face disciplinary measures.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Wike said the law must be respected and that the government would not tolerate actions that undermine the court’s directive.

“The court has ordered that the strike be suspended. Disobeying the law has consequences,” he said. “From tomorrow, any worker who refuses to resume work will face disciplinary action.”

The minister also issued a stern warning against any attempt to obstruct access to workplaces, vowing to take decisive action against offenders.

“If anybody blocks the gate, we will make such a person a scapegoat,” Wike stated.

He added that enforcing the rule of law was necessary to restore normalcy and ensure that government activities continue without disruption.

Wike’s comments come amid rising tension following the industrial action, which had affected operations across parts of the Federal Capital Territory before the court’s intervention.
