Police Arrest 4 Suspected Drug Traffickers in Kano

The Kano State Police Command recently arrested four suspects involved in drug trafficking during separate operations.

These efforts are part of a strategic push to eliminate narcotics and reduce crime across the state.

On January 25, officers in Fagge intercepted a tricycle at Triumph Roundabout carrying two sacks of illicit goods. They recovered 157 parcels of cannabis and arrested two men, Amadu Ado and Salisu Lurwanu.

A second raid on January 24 targeted “black spots” across Kano metropolis. Officers apprehended Usman Hamisu and Auwal Abdullahi, seizing cannabis, rubber solution, and bottles of the dangerous substance known as “Suck and Die.”

Police spokesperson CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the suspects are under investigation. They will eventually be transferred to the NDLEA for prosecution once the primary inquiries are complete.

Explaining the crackdown, Kiyawa said: “The suspects were arrested following the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to all police commands to sustain visibility policing and clamp down on all forms of criminal activities, especially drug trafficking.”

The command remains committed to dismantling drug networks to ensure public safety. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities to help the police maintain a crime-free environment in Kano.
