Northern Youth Leaders Buy 2027 Nomination Form with N200m for Tinubu’s Re-election
The Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum has raised N200 million to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledging to use the funds to purchase the president’s nomination form when the ruling party opens the process.
Coordinator of the forum and APC pioneer youth leader, Murtala Mohamed Garba, popularly known as Gamji, disclosed this during an interview with journalists from Unfiltered Reporting.
He said the donation represents a collective decision by youth leaders across Northern Nigeria to endorse Tinubu for a second term.
Garba explained that the forum, established about two years ago on the advice of the National Security Advisor to bridge the gap between youth and government, mobilised members from different professional and economic backgrounds to raise the funds.
He noted that the group is pro-administration and committed to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Garba, “We decided to come on the 26th of January to endorse Mr President for a second term, and also with unanimous resolution we all agreed that we are going to purchase tickets for Mr President for a second term, and we have raised that amount.”
He added that the forum draws membership from across Northern Nigeria and beyond, including professionals, artisans, traders and students, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
According to him, the group believes supporting Tinubu’s administration is necessary for national unity, peace, development and continuity of governance.
Garba said the donation would be paid at once through the banking system, adding that the forum’s large membership base makes the financial contribution sustainable.
He also stated that the Northern youth forum is duly registered under the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) and remains committed to mobilising youth participation in the political process.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Tinubu Support Group, the Director-General of TSG, Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, commended the initiative, describing it as a demonstration of patriotism and youth commitment to nation-building.
Dr. Yakasai noted that youths constitute the backbone of the country, particularly in Northern Nigeria and praised the forum for its organisational discipline and political awareness.
According to Dr. Yakasai, “This is the first time we are seeing youths take ownership of the political process in this manner. Their commitment shows that Nigerian youths are ready to support leadership that delivers on security, development and unity.”
The N200 million cheque was presented to the Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group at Tinubu’s office on Kanji Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, on January 26.
It was disclosed that the cheque was formally delivered to the TSG leadership on the same day.
