Military Names 16 Officers Indicted for Alleged Coup Attempt

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has published the names of 16 Nigerian Armed Forces members indicted by a Special Investigative Panel.

These individuals are accused of grave misconduct, specifically involving a reported conspiracy to subvert the government under President Bola Tinubu.

According to Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, the panel’s inquiry has concluded that these officers have significant cases to answer.

He confirmed on Monday that the personnel involved will proceed to a military Court Martial, adhering to standard legal frameworks and military protocols.

Major General Uba explained that the probe scrutinized the officers’ behavior, uncovering actions deemed “incompatible with the ethical codes, values, and professional expectations” of the Nigerian military.

He emphasized that these measures are strictly disciplinary, intended to uphold institutional order, unity, and combat readiness.
