FG Rewards Best Teacher of the Year with ₦50m, Launches EduRevamp Portal

The Federal Government has awarded ₦50 million to Nigeria’s Best Teacher of the Year and ₦25 million each to other outstanding teachers in a move aimed at promoting excellence and revitalizing the nation’s education sector.

The awards were presented at a national teachers’ programme organized by the Federal Ministry of Education, where education leaders and stakeholders gathered to recognize exceptional contributions to teaching and learning across the country. Officials said the recipients were selected through a merit-based process that considered performance, innovation, and impact in the classroom. Speaking at the event, government representatives emphasized that the financial rewards are part of broader efforts to boost teacher morale, improve welfare, and restore the dignity of the teaching profession. They noted that teachers remain central to national development and educational transformation, stressing the need for sustained investment in their growth and recognition. At the same event, the Federal Government unveiled the EduRevamp Online Portal, a new digital platform designed to support continuous professional development for teachers nationwide. The portal is expected to provide access to training programs, modern teaching resources, and digital tools that will help educators improve instructional quality and adapt to evolving learning environments. Education officials explained that the initiative aligns with the government’s wider strategy to modernize Nigeria’s education system, strengthen teacher capacity, and enhance learning outcomes in both public and private schools. They added that the platform will also promote technology integration in classrooms and support career advancement opportunities for teachers. Stakeholders in the education sector have welcomed the cash awards and the launch of the EduRevamp portal, describing them as meaningful steps toward motivating educators and raising teaching standards across the country. Many expressed hope that the initiative would inspire improved performance, attract new talent into the profession, and contribute to long-term educational reforms.
