No Plans to Replace Shettima as VP in 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima may be replaced as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing such claims as baseless speculation.

In a press statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the growing media reports and naming of alleged potential replacements were “purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless.”

Morka urged media organisations to refrain from giving attention to what he described as rumour-peddlers and unreliable sources whose intentions were to sow confusion and discord in the polity.

He stressed that under Nigeria’s electoral laws, the ban on political activities remains in force, noting that the party is currently focused on supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in implementing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the statement, the APC remains committed to advancing reforms aimed at transforming the economy, building prosperity, and improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

The party also called on its ministers, senior government officials and party leaders to avoid making comments that could fuel unnecessary speculation, urging them instead to concentrate on their responsibilities in service to the government and the party.

The statement was signed by Felix Morka, CON, National Publicity Secretary of the APC.
