Heirs Holdings Appoints Ufudo, Yomi-Ajayi as Non-Executive Directors

Heirs Holdings has announced the appointment of Obinna Ufudo and Sola Yomi-Ajayi as new Non-Executive Directors, a move the pan-African investment company says reinforces its commitment to strong corporate governance and strategic leadership.

In a statement released on Monday, the company said the appointments bring added depth in finance, energy, governance and international market experience to its board.

Sola Yomi-Ajayi brings more than three decades of experience in financial services, regulatory engagement, governance and risk management. She previously served as an Executive Director at United Bank for Africa (UBA), where she also led the bank’s international operations and headed UBA America as Country CEO. She currently sits on the boards of UBA United Kingdom and the Business Council for International Understanding, and is part of the OECD Blue Dot Network Executive Consultation Group.

Her academic credentials include an MBA from Robert Gordon University in the United Kingdom, alongside executive training in corporate governance and leadership from Wharton and Harvard business schools.

Obinna Ufudo also brings over 30 years of leadership experience across banking, investment and energy. He earlier served as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer at Heirs Holdings. He was later President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp, where he oversaw a major corporate turnaround and led the acquisition of the Ughelli Power Plant. Ufudo is the founder of Atiat Leasing Limited and co-founder of LoanBook Limited. His qualifications include postgraduate and executive education from Wharton, the University of Reading and IESE Business School, and he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

Reacting to the appointments, Heirs Holdings Founder and Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, said the new board members bring proven leadership and experience that will further strengthen the company’s pan-African investment strategy and portfolio development.

Heirs Holdings operates across energy, power, banking, insurance, technology, real estate, hospitality and healthcare sectors in 24 countries. The company says its investment philosophy is driven by Africapitalism — the belief that private sector-led investment is central to Africa’s economic and social development.
