Abia State Delegation on Understudy Tour of Lagos for Land Administration Study

The Lagos State Government today hosted a high-level delegation from Abia State, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Hon. Chaka Ikenna Chukwumerije.

The visit serves as a strategic study tour aimed at understudying Lagos State’s renowned land administration framework and its integration of modern technology.

The primary objective of the tour is to gain firsthand insights into how Lagos utilizes technology-driven solutions to resolve complex land-related challenges.

By observing these systems, the Abia State Ministry of Lands intends to enhance its own service delivery and streamline administrative processes back home.

Dr. Olajide Babatunde, the Special Adviser on eGIS and Urban Development, officially received the visitors.

During an intensive interactive session, he highlighted the importance of digital infrastructure in managing urban growth and ensuring transparency in land transactions.

The delegation was conducted on a comprehensive tour of several state-of-the-art facilities.

These included the ongoing Lagos GIS Centre, the Land Digitization Centre, the Lagos Land Archive, and the Electronic Physical Planning Centre, showcasing the scale of the state’s digital transformation.

In addition to the technical tours, the team visited the Lagos State Lands Bureau. There, they engaged with the Executive Secretary and other senior department officials to exchange best practices regarding land management, documentation, and statutory compliance.

This inter-state collaboration underscores a growing trend of domestic knowledge sharing in Nigeria. By adopting the “Lagos model,” the Abia State delegation hopes to modernize its land registry and improve the ease of doing business for its citizens.
