UNILORIN Expels 6 Students Over Misconduct, Exam Malpractice

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has officially announced the expulsion of six students following the conclusion of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee (SDC) at its 227th sitting.

This decisive action, sanctioned by the university management, comes as a result of proven cases of gross misconduct and examination malpractice. The move underscores the institution’s long-standing commitment to maintaining a rigorous standard of academic and moral integrity.

In a breakdown provided by the official disciplinary notice, three students were expelled specifically for misconduct. The affected individuals are Abdulhafeez Abdulraheem from the Department of Education Technology, Falusi Doris Comfort of the Department of History and International Studies, and Lawal Sorminat Olutosin from the Department of Health Education.

The university noted that these actions were necessary to preserve the peaceful and orderly conduct of the campus community.

The remaining three students were dismissed for their involvement in various forms of examination malpractice. These include Mohammed Qozeem Abdulateef from the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, as well as Stanislaus Divine Tuesusimi and Matthew Esther Ajuma, both from the Department of Human Kinetics. By publicly naming the offenders, the university aims to deter others from engaging in academic dishonesty that devalues the institution’s certificates.

Following the expulsion, the university management issued a directive banning the affected individuals from the campus with immediate effect. To complete the process, the former students have been ordered to return all university properties in their possession, including identity cards and library materials, to the Dean of Student Affairs.

This measure ensures a total severance of the individuals from the university’s academic and social environment.

In a closing advisory to the general student body, UNILORIN management reaffirmed its “zero-tolerance” policy regarding any form of indiscipline. Students were urged to strictly adhere to examination regulations and uphold the university’s core values of character and learning.

The institution emphasized that it will not hesitate to take similar drastic measures against any student who chooses to undermine the academic integrity or the image of the university.
