Police Arrest 7 Over ₦20M Beverage Theft in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects for their involvement in a major theft involving beverages and other goods worth ₦20.45 million.
The incident took place at a commercial store located in Ore, within the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The arrests followed a formal complaint lodged by the store owner, Ogunyomi Segun, at the Ore Divisional Police Headquarters.
He reported that several of his employees had been systematically stealing from the business between 2024 and early January 2026.
According to the police, the stolen items consisted of a variety of products, including soft drinks and canned beverages like Trophy lager. The total estimated value of the diverted goods was placed at approximately ₦20,450,000 over the period of the crime.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, identified the primary suspects as employees of the store. They include the storekeeper, Oyineke Joseph; the computer operator, Abioye Yusuf; and another staff member named Abdullahi Quadir.
In addition to the employees, the police apprehended three individuals accused of receiving the stolen goods: Micheal Njoku, Agu Monday, and Ikuemehin Oloruntimilehin.
A driver identified as Ojewuyi was also instrumental in the logistics of the crime and the subsequent arrests.
During the investigation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their various roles in the conspiracy and theft.
The police command has confirmed that all the individuals involved will be charged to court as soon as the ongoing investigation is finalized.
The State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, praised the detectives for their hard work and successful operation. He emphasized that the command is committed to using modern policing techniques and technological reforms to ensure a safer environment for businesses in Ondo.
