PDP will shock critics in 2027, Says Makinde

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has expressed strong confidence in the future of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), asserting that the party is far from dead despite recent internal challenges.

Speaking at the Southwest PDP Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abeokuta, the governor dismissed claims that the party is in decline.

He assured supporters that the party remains a formidable force in Nigerian politics.

The gathering served as a strategic platform for leaders across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti states to discuss the party’s roadmap leading up to the 2027 general elections.

During the event, the PDP welcomed several new members who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), signaling renewed interest in the opposition.

Addressing the crowd, Makinde emphasized that the high turnout and the arrival of new members prove that the party is still vibrant and capable of reclaiming its influence.

The governor challenged party members to focus on grassroots mobilization, urging them to strengthen the party’s structures at the ward and local government levels to ensure a solid foundation.

Makinde also reiterated his personal commitment to the PDP, clarifying that his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu was focused on national governance rather than any intention to defect.

Sending a clear message to political opponents, the governor declared: “I can assure you that the PDP is well and alive. Whoever thinks otherwise will be surprised beyond their imagination.”
