NSCDC Intercepts Truck with Stolen Railway Tracks in Bauchi, Arrests 5

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Bauchi State Command, has intercepted a truck carrying stolen railway tracks and arrested five suspects.
The vehicle was stopped along the Miri-Jos Road while transporting the vandalized national assets toward the eastern part of the country.
To bypass security, the suspects hid the heavy tracks and slippers beneath bags of chicken feed. In addition to the truck, operatives recovered a Lexus RX 330 and a total of 80 pieces of railway tracks and five pairs of slippers used in the illegal operation.
Spokesperson Saminu Yusuf confirmed the interception was based on credible intelligence. Yusuf stated: “At the receipt of intelligence on January 12, 2026, NSCDC personnel intercepted a truck conveying vandalised railway tracks, disguised with bags of chicken feed and slippers.”
The five arrested individuals are currently being interrogated as the command continues its investigation. Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched for the alleged mastermind, Mr. John, and the truck driver, Auwal, who both remains at large.
The NSCDC also reported the arrest of a motorcycle thief in a separate incident. The command reaffirmed its dedication to protecting critical infrastructure and vowed to prosecute those involved in economic sabotage once investigations are concluded.
