Atiku Condemns Kaduna Bandits Attacks, Warns Peace Deals Favour Criminals

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has strongly condemned the recent bandit attacks in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The condemnation follows reports that bandits abducted several worshippers during a church service on Sunday, an act Atiku described as a sign of the rising boldness of criminals in the region.
Atiku warned that peace deals between state governments and bandits are counterproductive, as they often favor the perpetrators over the victims.
He expressed concern that governors are “on their knees” begging criminals for peace, which fails to create a lasting deterrence and allows bandits to dictate terms that ultimately fool government negotiators.
The former Vice President emphasized that the government must shift its focus toward proactive measures rather than reactive rhetoric.
He noted that Nigerians are no longer impressed by official statements of condemnation and are instead demanding tangible results, arguing that if strong language were effective, the menace of banditry would have ended years ago.
Furthermore, Atiku called on the Bola Tinubu-led administration to take full responsibility for the country’s security challenges.
He reminded the ruling APC that they held previous governments to the harshest standards when they were in the opposition, and therefore, the current administration must be held to those same standards regarding their campaign promises.
In his statement released through his media adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku urged the government to prioritize the protection of communities and the upholding of citizens’ rights. He stressed that the authorities should not wait for attacks to occur before responding, but should instead work to ensure that criminals face actual consequences for their actions.
