UBEC Distributes Learning Materials to Schools in Benue
The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has distributed a wide range of teaching and learning materials to public schools across Benue State, in a move aimed at improving the quality of basic education in the region.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) headquarters in Makurdi, was flagged off by Deputy Governor Dr. Sam Ode, representing Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. Hajiya Aisha Garba, UBEC Executive Secretary, highlighted the importance of providing quality instructional materials, saying they are essential for effective teaching and learning. The materials distributed included smart boards, computers, core subject textbooks, Early Childhood Care & Education books, whiteboard markers, and other teaching aids designed to enhance classroom learning. Speaking at the event, Dr. Ode commended UBEC for its continued support of Benue’s educational sector and pledged the state government’s commitment to ensuring the resources are effectively utilized to benefit students across urban and rural areas. The distribution is part of UBEC’s ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access to educational resources nationwide and to strengthen state education boards’ capacity to deliver quality instruction. The intervention also aligns with broader goals of improving learner outcomes, supporting teachers, and addressing disparities in education infrastructure across Nigeria. Benue SUBEB officials, led by Chairman Dr. Grace Adagba, have been actively involved in monitoring past UBEC projects to ensure quality standards and accountability, a development that has allowed the state to successfully access federal support for education initiatives. With this latest distribution, both UBEC and the Benue State Government are reinforcing their commitment to providing a strong educational foundation for children, helping to bridge gaps in learning and promote better academic performance across the state.
