Shettima Arrives Davos to Lead Nigerian Delegation at World Economic Forum
Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled to hold from January 19 to 23, 2026.
Shettima arrived in Davos from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya on Saturday.
He was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and officials of the Nigerian Mission in Switzerland.
The Vice President is expected to commission the Nigeria House in Davos on Monday, marking the country’s first dedicated sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade.
The facility, established through a Public-Private Partnership, will serve as a hub for high-level ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum.
During the week-long event, Shettima will present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global political and business leaders and participate in plenary sessions on the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.
He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, multinational corporate executives and leaders of international development finance institutions to deepen partnerships aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
Speaking to journalists after the Vice President’s arrival, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, said Nigeria would showcase investment opportunities at the launch of the Nigeria House.
She added that four key sectors including solid minerals, climate-smart agriculture, creative industries and digital technology would be presented to global investors.
The statement was signed by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President and dated January 18, 2026.
