Kaduna Governor Visits Freed Captive Family, Announces Education and Medical Aid

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Sunday visited the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, where he met Mrs. Sarah Achi and her daughter, recently released from captivity, and expressed condolences over the death of her husband, the late Venerable Edwin Achi.

The governor described the visit as a moment of deep solemnity, offering heartfelt sympathies to the family as they begin the process of grieving and recovery.

He was accompanied by the Anglican Archbishop of Kaduna Province, Most Rev. Timothy Yahaya.

Governor Sani assured Mrs. Achi of the Kaduna State Government’s support, including the provision of a home, full sponsorship of the children’s education, payment of all medical expenses and sustained psychosocial care to aid their recovery and reintegration into society.

He said the interventions reflect the government’s commitment to standing with victims of banditry and ensuring compassion, justice and human dignity remain central to governance.

The governor also commended security agencies for their professionalism and collaboration with the Kaduna State Government, which he said led to the successful release of the victims.

He noted that their efforts continue to strengthen public confidence in the state’s security framework.

Before leaving the hospital, Sani visited other patients, offered words of encouragement, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare and security across the state.

The statement was signed by Senator Uba Sani, CON, Governor of Kaduna State and dated January 18, 2026.
