Breaking: Gunmen Launch Deadly Attack on Ibadan Company, Abduct Expatriate
Security agencies in Oyo State have commenced an intensive manhunt following a violent assault on a private firm in the Ogunmakin area of Ibadan that left a police officer dead and a foreign national missing.
The incident occurred at Aqua Triton Company when armed assailants invaded the premises and carried out what authorities described as a coordinated operation
During the attack, the gunmen overpowered security personnel on duty and abducted the Chinese expatriate serving as principal at the facility.
Confirming the development on Saturday, the Oyo State Police Command said efforts were already underway to track down those responsible and secure the safe return of the victim.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, provided details of the incident in an official statement issued in Ibadan.
The statement read, “There was an attack at Aqua Triton Company in Ogunmakin, near Ibadan, Oyo State, where yet to be identified gunmen stormed the facility in a commando-style operation.
“One police officer tragically died while repelling the attack, injuring some of the assailants, and the Chinese expatriate principal was abducted.
“Immediately informed, the state Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, directed the AC Operations to lead the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and tactical teams to the scene.
“A bush-combing operation is ongoing, and a full investigation has been launched to ensure the safe rescue of the victim and the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.”
The police command assured residents that security teams have been deployed to the area and surrounding communities to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
Authorities urged members of the public with useful information that could assist investigations to come forward, emphasizing that all leads would be treated with confidentiality.
The attack has heightened concerns over rising insecurity in parts of the state, with community leaders calling for stronger measures to protect businesses and residents from similar incidents.
