2027: Obasanjo Shuns Atiku, Drives Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket Against Tinubu

2027: Obasanjo Shuns Atiku, Drives Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket Against Tinubu

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is reportedly spearheading a political alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The goal is to form a joint ticket for the 2027 presidential election to challenge President Bola Tinubu.

Obasanjo has reportedly sidelined his former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, in favour of this new coalition.

The former president is said to be leveraging his influence to connect Obi with key northern power brokers to ensure the alliance gains nationwide traction.

To formalize this partnership, Obi and Kwankwaso have allegedly set up a joint committee. This committee is tasked with strategizing the logistics of a shared ticket, likely under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The ADC has acknowledged that while Kwankwaso has not officially joined the party yet, they are open to welcoming him.

Party officials noted that discussions between the two leaders are ongoing, though they are currently being handled externally.

Atiku Abubakar’s camp has reacted to these developments by stating they do not feel threatened. His spokesperson emphasized that the former Vice President remains focused on his own path and welcomes any efforts aimed at “redeeming” the country.

Within the “Obidient” movement and Kwankwasiyya circles, there is growing optimism about the potential merger. Supporters believe that combining the strengths of both movements could create a formidable third force capable of unseating the incumbent administration.
