Makinde Visits Oyo Park over Killings, Announces Compensation for Victim’s Families

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has visited the Old Oyo National Park in the Oloka village area to commiserate with the community following a deadly attack by suspected bandits.
During the visit, the governor confirmed the tragic killing of forest guards and conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in the region.
To support the families of the fallen heroes, Governor Makinde announced a compensation package of ₦5 million for each of the families of the deceased guards.
He described the loss of the personnel as a devastating blow to the state and emphasized that the compensation is intended to provide immediate relief to those left behind.
In addition to the financial support, the governor approved full scholarships up to the university level for the children of the slain guards.
This initiative aims to ensure that the educational future of the children remains secure despite the tragic loss of their primary providers.
Addressing the security infrastructure, the governor revealed plans to request the establishment of a military base in Oloka to deter future cross-border banditry. He also pledged to improve local infrastructure by rehabilitating the road linking Oloka to Ikoyi-Ile and providing essential services such as solar-powered streetlights and boreholes for the community.
Governor Makinde urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information on suspicious activities.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the state’s security architecture and ensuring that such an attack does not reoccur in the border communities.
