Shettima to Represent President Tinubu at Guinea-Conakry Presidential Inauguration, Attend World Economic Forum
Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Nigeria to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya in Guinea-Conakry, scheduled for Saturday, January 17, at the GLC Stadium in Nongo, Conakry.
Shettima will from there travel to Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF 2026), which will hold from January 19 to January 23 under the theme, “A Spirit of Dialogue.”
The Vice President’s participation in the Guinea ceremony underscores Nigeria’s leadership role in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and its support for Guinea’s return to constitutional order after a four-year transitional period.
His visit also aims to strengthen bilateral trade, which recently saw Nigerian exports to Guinea, including manufactured goods and agricultural products, reach $3.29 million.
At WEF 2026, global leaders from government, business, civil society, and science will discuss frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, next-generation biotechnology, and advanced energy systems. The forum aims to explore how these innovations can drive growth, expand opportunities in emerging markets, invest in workforce skills, and promote sustainable and inclusive development.
Vice President Shettima is expected to engage international leaders and investors on Nigeria’s economic reform agenda, investment prospects, and Africa’s role in shaping a resilient global future. He will return to Nigeria at the conclusion of his engagements in Davos.
