APC Welcomes Abubakar Atiku Abubakar into Party

Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party and joined the All Progressives Congress, declaring support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Abba, as he is popularly known, announced his decision on Wednesday at the National Assembly, where he was formally received by senior APC figures. He also directed members of his political organisation to align with the ruling party as part of his move.

Speaking at the event, Abba said his decision to leave the PDP was influenced by what he described as the leadership style of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin.

He stated that he would work with party stakeholders to mobilise support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition and confirmed that his political group, previously known as Haske Atiku Association, has been renamed Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation.

Senior APC officials present at the event welcomed Abba into the party, describing his defection as a conviction-driven decision based on belief in the President’s political ideology and ongoing reforms. They assured him and his supporters of full integration into party activities.

Sources at the gathering said Abba had been following political developments from abroad and returned to Nigeria after expressing confidence in the current administration’s direction.

The event also marked the formal realignment of Abba’s political structure ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
