TCN Seeks Lagos’ Support to Protect Power Infrastructure

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has called for a stronger partnership with the Lagos State Government to protect critical power infrastructure.
This appeal was made during a visit to state planning authorities to address the growing pressure on transmission corridors caused by rapid urban expansion.
TCN officials highlighted that illegal structures built under high-tension power lines pose severe safety risks, including potential electrocution.
These encroachments also hinder essential maintenance work and frequently lead to grid disturbances that disrupt electricity supply across the state.
In response, the Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing urban planning regulations and protecting utility corridors.
Officials pledged to work closely with the TCN to prevent illegal developments and preserve the designated open spaces required for power infrastructure.
This collaboration is part of a broader effort to stabilize the national grid and improve power reliability. Both parties emphasized that safeguarding these assets is vital for preventing equipment damage and ensuring a steady supply of electricity to homes and industries.
