Saudi-led Coalition Confirms ‘Limited’ Strike Against Separatists in Yemen

The Saudi-led coalition recently initiated targeted military strikes in Yemen to halt the territorial expansion of UAE-backed separatist forces, specifically aiming to block their advance into the Aldhale Governorate.
This intervention follows a period of heightened instability where the Southern Transitional Council (STC) successfully seized significant regions, including parts of the Hadramawt province near the Saudi border.
These tensions escalated further after the STC unveiled a two-year roadmap for independence with the goal of establishing a sovereign state called “South Arabia,” a move that directly challenges the current unified government.
The diplomatic situation grew more precarious when separatist leader Aidaros Alzubidi failed to attend scheduled peace negotiations in Riyadh.
According to coalition reports, Alzubidi did not board his designated flight and has since vanished to an undisclosed location, leaving his followers without clear direction.
This development highlights the complex friction between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, who, despite their shared history of fighting Houthi rebels in the north, continue to support opposing factions in the struggle for control over Yemen’s southern territories.
