PDP Chairman Raises the Alarm Over Encroachment on Kogi Secretariat Project

The Kogi State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Muhammed Gambo, has raised concerns over what he described as widespread encroachment on the land designated for the party’s State Secretariat, warning that the situation will no longer be tolerated.

Gambo made this known on Tuesday during an inspection of the project site, where he expressed dissatisfaction over both the level of trespassing and the prolonged delay in completing the party’s headquarters.

He noted that the condition of the project reflects poorly on a party with a strong political history in the state.

According to him, decisive steps will be taken under his leadership to ensure the completion of the secretariat. He also urged the Kogi State Government to direct appropriate agencies to address the illegal occupation of the property.

As part of immediate measures, the PDP chairman disclosed plans to constitute a technical committee to evaluate the extent of the encroachment and recommend practical solutions.

“I am also appealing to party leaders, former governors, senators, and members of the House of Representatives, to come to our aid and address these anomalies.

“We are drawing the state government’s attention to these encroachments, and we will pursue anyone who has taken portions of our land to restore our rightful boundaries,” he said.

Gambo assured party members that construction activities would resume soon, stressing that the goal is to deliver a befitting and functional secretariat for the PDP in Kogi State.

He added that the process will be guided by transparency and accountability, marking a departure from previous approaches.

The PDP chairman further expressed optimism about the party’s future in the state, stating that the completion of the secretariat and renewed internal organisation would strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He maintained that the PDP is determined to reassert itself as a major political force in Kogi politics.
