Greenland’s Prime Minister Warns US against Fantacising About Annexation

Greenland’s Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, has issued a firm warning to the United States against “fantasies of annexation” following recent comments from President Donald Trump.
The dispute centers on Trump’s assertion that the U.S. should acquire Greenland for national security reasons, citing the increased presence of Russian and Chinese vessels in the region.
While the island is self-governing, it remains under the rule of the Kingdom of Denmark, and officials have emphasized that it is not for sale.
PM Nielsen argued that such threats have no place between allies and noted that Greenland is already a partner to the U.S. covered by the NATO alliance.
European Union and German leaders have supported Greenland’s position, reminding the U.S. that Denmark is a NATO member and any defense requirements for the territory must be discussed collectively within that framework.
Trump, however, has dismissed Denmark’s ability to secure the island, mockingly claiming their recent efforts to boost security only involved adding a single dog sled.
