Rivers Politicians Rally Behind Wike, Say Anywhere You Lead Us, We’ll Go
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State say they are ready to follow whatever political direction the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, gives ahead of the 2027 elections.
The APC chairman in the area, Rejoice Otobo, made this known during Wike’s visit to the community, describing it as a gesture of appreciation.
Otobo said the people were grateful for Wike’s impact and would stand by him.
“We are waiting for your directives for 2027. Anywhere you ask us to go, we will go. Whatever you say we should do, we will do,” he said, adding that both supporters and critics in the council had agreed to follow Wike’s lead.
The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, Ikechukwu Obuzor, also pledged loyalty, saying Wike had given the people renewed confidence.
“We are solidly behind you. Wherever you go, we will follow. By 2027, Ahoada West will deliver,” he said.
Also speaking, the council chairman, Chita Eugene, described Wike as a strong political force in the South-South and praised his record in office. The House of Representatives member for the constituency, Victor Obuzor, said Wike deserved continued support because of his projects and influence as a former governor.
A group backing Seyi Tinubu also pledged support for Wike and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
In his response, Wike thanked the people for backing him and Tinubu in the 2023 elections but said Rivers State had lost its political standing due to poor leadership.
He openly opposed a second term for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, saying, “The mistake in leadership must be corrected in 2027,” and stressed the need for a leader who can restore the state’s pride and progress.
