FG Activates Nationwide Emergency Medical Hotline, Releases State Ambulance Numbers

The Federal Government has reiterated the availability of the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS), urging Nigerians to make use of emergency hotlines for prompt medical response during crises.
According to information released by the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System, the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) has designated 112 as the official national emergency communication number, accessible across the country for medical emergencies and other urgent situations.
To further strengthen emergency response at the grassroots level, several state governments have established direct ambulance hotlines to complement the 112 national line. These state-specific numbers are designed to ensure quicker access to emergency medical services, particularly in critical situations such as accidents, sudden illnesses, and security-related medical emergencies.
States with dedicated emergency medical lines include Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Delta, Ogun, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom, Taraba, Niger, Borno, Rivers, Plateau, Ondo, Bauchi, Yobe, Sokoto, Jigawa, Ekiti, Kano, Ebonyi, Oyo, Edo, Gombe, Nasarawa and Bayelsa.
Health authorities emphasised that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to reduce preventable deaths, improve response time, and strengthen emergency healthcare delivery nationwide.
Citizens are advised to save the emergency numbers relevant to their states and use them responsibly.
The government also called on residents to promptly report emergencies and cooperate with medical responders to ensure effective service delivery.
