Bandits Kidnap Police Inspector, Two Others in Kano, Force Them to Beg for Ransom on Video

Suspected bandits have kidnapped a police inspector and two other travellers in Kano State, later beating them and forcing them to beg for ransom in a video that has since circulated online.

The victims were reportedly on their way from Rijiya Zaki motor park in Kano to Kebbi State when they were attacked.

The kidnapped officer was identified as Inspector Kabiru Bello Adamu who serves at the Police Academy in Wudil.

The two other victims, Muntari and Musa Rabiu, also known as Danladi, are all from Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State. They were said to have been stopped along the road and dragged into a nearby forest by armed men.

In the video, the victims appeared frightened as gunmen aimed weapons at them.

Speaking in Hausa, Inspector Adamu identified himself and explained how the incident happened. “I am a police officer working at the Police Academy, Wudil. I was travelling to Kebbi to visit relatives when we ran into armed bandits,” he said.

The inspector appealed for mercy calling for peace and understanding. “We are praying that Allah brings peace between us and them. We have families waiting for us,” he added. Another victim, Muntari, also pleaded for help, saying, “Please, for the sake of Allah and the Prophet, help us and have mercy on us.”

Musa Rabiu said they were heading to Birnin Kebbi when they were ambushed. At a point, his comment suggesting the captors were being kind angered one of the gunmen, who ordered a violent attack.

The victims were beaten with sticks and gun butts as they cried out, “Please forgive us. For Allah’s sake, help us.”

As of the time of reporting, the police have yet to issue an official statement on the abduction.
