I Will Only Join Party Willing to Give Me Presidential, VP Ticket, Says Kwankwaso

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has established specific requirements for entering into any political coalition or alliance.
Kwankwaso noted that while his camp is open to a merger before the 2027 general elections, any partner must be prepared to offer him either the top spot or the running mate position on the ticket.
Rumors suggest that the former Minister of Defence is facing significant pressure to switch his allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The ADC is already linked to high-profile figures like former Vice President Aliko Dangote, Peter Obi, and Chibuike Amaechi, all of whom have expressed interest in pursuing the presidency.
Additionally, Kwankwaso is reportedly being courted by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
However, during a speech to his followers on Saturday, Kwankwaso reiterated that his participation in any alliance is contingent on receiving a presidential or vice-presidential nomination.
Speaking in Kano, he stated, “We are seeking a political partnership, but they must be committed to granting me, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential or vice-presidential slot.”
In the 2023 presidential race, Kwankwaso finished in fourth place, trailing behind President Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi.
